Urth Yarns is a family-run business that began in the 1950s and is now in its third generation. We are focused on crafting with purpose, prioritizing ethical practices, sustainability and community - and making sure we have fun along the way. Our commitment goes beyond creating high-quality, hand-dyed yarn - it extends to supporting local makers and preserving traditional craft techniques.

The company employs local artisans, empowering them to preserve and pass down the traditional art of dyeing yarn with natural materials. It also provides opportunities for women to knit samples for retail shops, connecting generations, building valuable skills and promoting financial independence within the community.

At the heart of the business is sustainability - we use natural fibers and materials to create beautiful yarns that are not only ideal for your projects but also better for the planet. Each skein is carefully crafted with slow fashion principles in mind, offering one-of-a-kind products.

We have a talented team of in-house designers dedicated to creating unique yarns and innovative designs. We also collaborate with independent designers to bring a fresh perspective, and highlight the beauty and potential of our yarns.

 In addition to our commitment to quality, Urth Yarns is a proud partner with Trees for the Future. A portion of each sale is helping plant trees and restore land through sustainable farming in Africa.
